Through our advanced treatment of tar-containing asphalt, we generate electricity, heat, and steam, which are distributed locally to households and businesses. One of our thermal treatment sites uses a gasifier, which reduces our reliance on fossil fuels by 40%. This process allows us to recover products to reuse in both construction projects and as aggregates.

Through our energy solutions, we recover the hidden value in waste by turning it into a reliable power source. The process uses controlled high temperatures to release energy, which is then recovered in three main forms:
Electricity

Steam
Used to drive turbines for efficient power generation, or supplied directly to industrial processes.
Through the thermal treatment process, waste that cannot be recycled is treated in controlled, high-temperature environments, where its energy potential is unlocked. Heat from combustion is captured to produce steam, which powers turbines to generate electricity. Where possible, surplus steam and heat are recovered and delivered to local communities and industries — creating local energy loops that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

How we do it:
Thermal treatment process
We apply high-temperature treatment with strict emissions control to safely process tar-containing asphalt and roofing materials. During this process, the mineral fractions are recovered for reuse in construction, while the released energy is captured as steam. This steam drives a turbine to generate electricity and can also be supplied as heat for local district heating networks.
