ESG Manager

In the role of ESG Manager, you guide Blue Phoenix to comply with sustainability regulations (CSRD, EU-Taxonomy) and apply relevant frameworks and standards such as GRI for the group’s corporate sustainability report and ISO 14001 for our environmental impacts management.

Blue Phoenix has published ESG reports for 2021 through 2024. Our sustainability strategy is built on three pillars: Circular Economy, Climate Impact and Wellbeing. The ESG Manager will report to the Head of Regulatory Compliance and Sustainability and support them in developing the strategy and ensuring that it is effectively executed. You will engage with both internal and external stakeholders, and some travel may be required for the role.

Main activities and responsibilities

  • Drive Blue Phoenix’ sustainability programs and initiatives across divisions and regions.
  • Gather ESG data across departments and increase awareness on sustainability topics.
  • Quantify the group’s GHG emissions inventory.
  • Write annual ESG Report (published in April every year).
  • Support the Head of Regulatory Compliance and Sustainability in working with key stakeholders (shareholders, financial institutions and service providers etc.) on ESG related matters.
  • Follow developments in ESG reporting and ensure the optimisation of the internal reporting process.
  • Develop, update and execute the ESG strategy (Update KPIs, create a yearly action plan and budget).
  • Conduct Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to improve the communication of Blue Phoenix's sustainability contribution, both internally in the organization and with external audiences.
  • Seek opportunities to bring sustainability to the forefront of our Group business strategy to support our business development and our strategy.
  • Monitor EU regulations and translate this into business opportunities (ETS, carbon border adjustment mechanisms etc.).
  • Represent our company at relevant seminars. 

Required qualifications, skills & competencies

  • Degree level qualification, with links to Environmental Management or Sustainability.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a managerial role in the field of sustainability management, ESG reporting and/or cultural change management preferably in a production environment.
  • Good knowledge of international ESG policies, frameworks and standards.
  • Proficiency on all three social- environmental- governance related topics and impacts.
  • Strong command of English language.
  • Strong knowledge of computer software applications (MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Preferably experience within the Construction, Waste or Metals reprocessing industry
  • A desire to work in a Circular business and a passion for reuse of materials.
