Mobile IBA processing in the UK
In addition to processing incinerator bottom ash (IBA) at our stationary facilities, we provide a flexible alternative with our mobile IBA processing technology. Our mobile IBA processing plants brings advanced resource recovery directly to the required location, enabling Energy-from-Waste operators and partners to recover valuable metals and produce secondary aggregates closer to the source.
A mobile incinerator bottom ash (IBA) plant is a transportable processing solution designed to separate and extract ferrous and non-ferrous metals from IBA directly at the location where they are needed. Unlike a stationary fixed facility, a mobile plant can be deployed to different locations, providing processing capacity without the need for permanent installation.
Blue Phoenix mobile IBA processing solution
At Blue Phoenix, we combine decades of IBA processing experience with flexible mobile technology to help customers maximise resource recovery. Our mobile plants are designed to:
✓ Recover valuable ferrous and non-ferrous metals
✓ Process IBA into reusable mineral fractions
✓ Support the production of secondary aggregates
✓ Provide additional processing capacity when and where required
Our mobile solution complements our network of stationary facilities, allowing us to offer the right processing approach for every location and project requirement.
Why choose mobile IBA processing?
On-site solution
Providing the flexibility to bring resource recovery closer to the source whether located at the Energy-from-Waste facility, landfill site, or another suitable location.
Cost-efficient resource recovery
Reducing the unnecessary transport requirements and associated costs by processing IBA right where it is stored.
Faster Setup
A faster route to establishing processing capacity, allowing operations to start in a shorter time and adapt to changing requirements.
Supporting circular economy goals
Supporting more circular construction solutions and reducing dependence on primary materials and landfill by extracting metals and producing secondary aggregates.
Processing capacity across the UK
We currently manage 10 stationary processing facilities in the UK. With two mobile IBA processing plants operating across three sites, we are collectively handling more than 2 million tonnes of IBA each year. This allows us to provide flexible solutions across different regions, helping customers access reliable IBA processing capacity where it is needed. Our combination of stationary and mobile facilities means we can support large-scale continuous processing, and temporary processing requirements.

Key component and functions
Similar to a stationary processing plant, the mobile facility integrates the advanced technologies to transform IBA into valuable resources, including magnets, eddy current separators, crushers and sensor based sorting. The recovered materials undergo quality checks to ensure they meet required standards and customer specifications.
Mobile IBA Processing Applications
Our mobile solution can support:
