Our solutions in North America
We bring proven solutions, global expertise, and operational excellence to North America in the belief that every ton of ash should be given a second life.
WtE ash processing
Across the United States, Waste-to-Energy plays an important role in reducing reliance on landfills. But the challenge lies in what’s left behind – a combined ash residue made up of bottom ash, boiler ash, and fly ash. Processing this combined ash is more challenging than in any other region we operate. The addition of fly ash in particular causes combined ash to be relatively fine and sticky, therefore, making it difficult to process with industry-standard equipment.
Blue Phoenix brings proven expertise and dedicated technology to overcome these challenges. By tailoring our process to typical U.S. ash streams, we ensure high metal recovery rates while creating the potential to produce safe, certified aggregates for construction use.
Metal recovery
Our primary focus in the United States is metals recovery from the Waste-to-Energy ash. Through our advanced ballistic separation and tailored pre-screening and screening technology, we ensure that both ferrous and non-ferrous metals are reliably recovered, supporting recycling industries and reducing the carbon footprint of metals compared to the use of primary mined raw materials.
Secondary aggregates:
A sustainable building material
Alongside metals recovery, we also unlock the potential of IBA minerals as a secondary aggregate, which is used in road construction, foundations, and other civil engineering applications. We help the Waste-to-Energy industry reduce the dependency on landfilling valuable raw materials, creating low carbon and safe alternative construction materials.
