Roofing felt
We process tar-roofing to a high grade.
Tar-roofing felt often contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). In the thermal treatment plant, these PAHs are completely destroyed by high-temperature incineration. The hot flue gases released in this incineration process are used to generate steam and electricity, just as they are when processing tar-containing asphalt. Then they are cleaned in the flue gas cleaning system. The energy content in the tar-roofing felt also provides a significant saving in the consumption of natural gas required for the thermal cleaning of asphalt. The recovery of energy and its beneficial use leads to huge reductions in CO2 emissions.
Our worldwide thermal treatment operations
We operate one of Europe's most advanced thermal treatment networks, with large-scale facilities capable of handling significant volumes of asphalt and roofing waste. Our thermal treatment facility in the Netherlands is the central location of our European asphalt and roofing waste operations. From countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Italy, UK, Austria, Belgium, and Ireland, materials are transported to this state-of-the-art location, where they are processed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with environmental standards. We support our partners across the region with reliable capacity and consistent quality.
