Gypsum

Our thermal treatment process is focused on optimal cleaning of flue gases to avoid the generation of waste and to comply with environmental regulations. Tar-bearing asphalt generates sulfur during incineration, which forms sulfur oxide. Blue Phoenix uses a wet flue gas scrubber to scrub sulfur oxide (SOx) and converts it to gypsum after treating it with lime.

Blue Phoenix supplies the gypsum to the gypsum processing industry, where it is manufactured into plasterboard and anhydrite, which are widely used in new building and renovation. Therefore, the gypsum stream is completely recycled and reused.
