IBA Aggregates

Anti-Freeze Layer 0–32 mm

The HMVA-2 slags produced by Blue Phoenix, typically available in 0/32 mm grain size, undergo comprehensive quality assurance according to TL G SoB-StB and the German Substitute Building Materials Ordinance (ErsatzbaustoffV) to ensure safe use based on the specific application.

Characteristics

Key technological characteristics of HMVA-2 slag 0/32 (frost protection layer) are:

Ideal water content: 10-16% by mass
Bulk density as delivered: 1.25-1.35 t/m³
Bulk density: 2.40–2.50 t/m³
Spatial stability after 30 days: ≤ 1–1.5 ‰ (limit ≤ 3 ‰)
Density in installed state: 1.60–1.80 t/m³
Typical installation layer thickness: 20–40 cm
Load-Bearing Capacity (with layer thickness  ≥ 30 cm and compaction ≥ 103%):

Ideal water content: 10-16% by mass
Bulk density as delivered: 1.25-1.35 t/m³
Bulk density: 2.40–2.50 t/m³

Quality assurance includes

  • Certificate of suitability
  • Factory production control
  • External monitoring

This quality assurance is conducted by an independent monitoring center accredited according to RAP Stra.

Test certificate

Suitability as a mineral substitute building material—including initial/type testing and operational assessment—is verified under TL G SoB-StB/TL BuBE-StB (for classified road construction and earthworks) and §§ 4 to 13 of the ErsatzbaustoffV. These standards are consistently met at all Blue Phoenix locations in Germany.
